WHEN IS IT RIGHT

When is it right to state, “Sir you are wrong.”

“Where we go our armies don’t belong

Tis time to halt, take stock of what we do,

Rethink our purpose, retrace our steps anew!“

Are we not men with minds of our own,

Who with free will respond to goodwill shown,

Free to protest when we think our role is wrong,

When is it right to sing such a song?

Who must decide? The people, yes, it’s true,

They are responsible for what their soldiers do,

Tis not our leaders, not our Gods and Lords,

It is the people who blunt or sharpen swords.

For Warriors fight, wound, and kill and maim,

For the people’s rights, or for the people’s shame.
