SAVING FACE
Most do erections fail to stand,
Once severed by their own demand,
To prosper where there’s lack of trade,
For light does not grow in the shade.
Perplexed by ones own changing tone,
When words seem not to be one's own,
One strives to return from mistake,
Lest he his grim advance forsake.
Yet oft it’s wiser to save face,
By withdrawing from the vulgar race,
Lest contradiction distorts his claim,
And leads him to an inner shame.
Though well screened from the observer's view,
It will fester there inside of you.
