I'LL MISS YOU WHILE YOU’RE GONE

A newborn baby in my arms

A life so pure and sweet

A blessing from my God above

From silky hair to tiny feet

Sleepless nights and endless days

They pass by one by one

Soon you’re crawling everywhere

Then your walk turns to a run

First day of school arrives

I’ll miss you while you're gone

A smile and a wave the bus pulls away

You’ve entered into a new dawn

Time slips by unnoticed

Suddenly you’re on your own

With babies to tend and care for

Our conversations are on the phone

Six blessings filled my days and nights

I lived and breathed for each one

I loved them with heart and soul

Too soon my job will be done

Many of those children I rarely see

They now live for their babies too

I don’t know how to live for me

I devoted my life to you

The days and years have swiftly passed

I've entered into a new dawn

With a smile and a wave you pulled away

I'll miss you while you’re gone
